I think we saved the best for last with this year’s RW reservations as we went to The Mansion last night. The service and food were flawless. If I could remember that link for best server, I’d certainly recommend Hugo. He took wonderful care of us and advised us on the best things on the RW menu, which turned out to be fantastc.

He recommended the watermelon salad, which had great presentation and the prosciutto really made it stand out. We also had the house cured salmon, which was wonderful as well.

He also steered us in the right direction on our entrees. I had heard good things about the crawfish stuffed chicken, but was leaning toward the veal osso bucco. Hugo said the veal was good, but the chicken was truly standout. My date loved her corn ravioli with shrimp bolognese. While we’re both normally very good at sharing and happy to switch halfway through, neither one of us wanted to because our own entrees were so good.

Dessert was a peach sundae for her, which was light, wonderful, and a strong contrast from my chocolate caramel torte. Both were a great way to finish our wonderful evening.

The only disappointment was that they are no longer making their homeade tonic with gin that we had read about. Hugo kindly explained that some of the ingredients for the tonic were no longer available, but they could still whip together wonderful drinks from the bar. We also enjoyed visiting at the lovely bar after dinner for post-dinner drinks.

Special thanks to Hugo and the Mansion for making our experience so memorable!
