With Abacus, Jasper’s and Rathbun’s Blue Plate Kitchen under his belt, “Iron Chef America” winner Kent Rathbun and Partner Bill Hyde announce plans to manage other culinary concepts, including ZEA WoodFire Grill in Plano. Incorporating the Rathbun culinary philosophy of unsurpassed guest service, quality of food and attention to detail, ZEA WoodFire Grill has undergone significant changes to adhere to Kent Rathbun restaurant standards.
“Bill Hyde and I have been partners for several years now and the time has come to branch out and consider managing other concepts during these economic times,” said Executive Chef and Partner Kent Rathbun. “Placing ZEA WoodFire Grill under the Kent Rathbun name is a perfect example of how we are continuously seeking ways to broaden our horizons and seek out additional opportunities for growth. Although ZEA WoodFire Grill is not our original restaurant idea, we have moved into the management of it and have made many changes to the staff, menu and wine list to incorporate my philosophies.”ZEA WoodFire Grill originally opened January 2006 in Plano with the focus of using unique and exotic ingredients. Rathbun has spent the last several months tweaking the lunch and dinner menu to consist of ZEA favorites, including the Red Beans and Rice Platter with Crispy Fried Chicken Breast and Grilled Andouille Sausage, Woodfired and Rotisserie Meats, and Zea’s Signature Ribs, as well as daily Rathbun specials and a new wine list. ZEA WoodFire Grill will now host monthly wine dinners and happy hour specials.
ZEA WoodFire Grill will join the Rathbun family of restaurants, including one of Esquire Magazine’s Top 20 Best New Restaurants in America and Texas Monthly’s 10 Best New Restaurants in Texas, Jasper’s, and the consistently Five-Star rated Abacus.
