Saturday, Teresa Gubbins posted an e-mail from a disgruntled worker at Bliss Raw Café. The employee was organizing a strike against the restaurant. The author, Johnny Appleseed, accused the owner of Bliss, Delia Pissaro, of not paying workers and using “GMO corn, produce sprayed with chemicals and has used artificial ingredients” in the food that is advertised as healthy organic food.
Today, Lisa Petty, has a full report on the food fight. Pisarro on Appleseed: “She is a very radical, out-there kind of person,” says Pisarro, who went on to deny that Appleseed’s strike ever even happened. However, when Petty pushes on the “raw food concept”, she reports Miranda Martinez “the raw food expert and raw pastry chef” quit the restaurant Saturday because of ethical principals. And “Martinez notes that several other ingredients at Bliss are not technically raw, such as chocolate powder, tahini, and olives.”
The second location of Bliss is scheduled to open in Preston Center in mid-April.
