LAWRY’S THE PRIME RIB
What:     Wine production in South Africa started during the 1600’s but has only come to the attention of the world market in the last decade. In 1990 less than 30% of all grapes harvested were used for wine production but by 2003 over 70% of South African grapes reached the market as wine. Our wine journey begins on the slopes of Simonsberg overlooking False Bay then takes us to Stellenbosch, known for outstanding Chenin & Sauvignon Blancs. We finish in Hermanus in the Aarde Valley trying a cross between Pinot Noir and Cinsaut known as Pinotage.
