Can Somebody Help This Poor Girl: Newlywed Edition

As this will be one of my last posts for a bit, I’m hoping there are some Dishers out there who can help me. I’m getting married in just a few weeks and we’re honeymooning in Australia and New Zealand (don’t be too jealous-14 hours in coach. Ouch!) First, we head to Sydney and Cairns in Australia and then we’re off to Blenheim and Queenstown on the south island of New Zealand. I know many of our readers are world travelers so I’m turning to you all for advice. Can anyone offer some good suggestions as to where to go? Sure we’ve done tons of research online and read the books but I’d like some personal feedback on good places to eat. The SideDish nation is always so helpful and any ideas you can give me would be much appreciated.

My wife and I made a similar trip for our honeymoon 17 years ago – Fiji, Syndey, Barrier Reef, Auckland. While this is slightly off the question, you should make a stop at the Lord Nelson Brewery and Hotel in the Rocks District of Sydney. It is great spot.

They put beets on their hamburgers.

I like beets. I like burgers. But not together. It’s been 15 years and it still makes me shudder.

If you can make it to Adelaide and the Barossa Valley to go wine tasting, I would definitely recommend it. Also, if you can get there, Kangaroo Island. It is so untouched and gorgeous.

    Kangaroo tastes good.

I can’t help you out on where to eat, but if you want a bike tour, may I recommend The company is owned by a friend of mine from Dallas (Hi, Mike!).

I’m sure he would be able to make some great recommendations as to where to eat along with giving you a memorable tour of the city.
