Mercury Chef Chris Ward Wins Restaurant Week Award

You all know chef Chris Ward–in 2007,  he won D Magazine‘s Stainless Steel Chef Award. Today comes word from the foodie gods:

The Dallas/Ft. Worth Chapter of The American Institute of Wine & Food is pleased to announce the 2008 winners for the best wine and food pairing menu for KRLD’ s Restaurant Week presented by Central Market. This year’s winners are Executive Chef Chris Ward and Wine Professional Robert Cooper of The Mercury.

The prize for both the winning chef and the wine professional is a continuing education class at the Culinary Institute of America at Greystone in the Napa Valley. Accommodations for five nights at a Napa Valley Winery and air fare are included. A traveling trophy will also be given to the restaurant. The winning chef will be interviewed on KRLD.


A panel of professional judges picked the winner based on how effectively the menu described the dishes, and how well the wines were matched to the foods. Restaurant names were removed from the menus for judging.
