This just in: Rafael Torano has been named exec pastry chef at the Landmark Restaurant at the Warwick Melrose Hotel. He began work a few weeks back and–no surprise here–his “Adult Cupcake,” made of Guiness stout chocolate cake with vanilla gelato and chocolate mousse was a hit during Restaurant Week (woop woop). He has previously worked at the Worthington Hotel in Fort Worth, Hotel Crescent Court, and the Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo, Florida (among others).
Interesting fact: Torano’s son, Reuben, is the new pastry chef at the Joule hotel downtown. Yes, I am accepting invitations for Thanksgiving at their place.
