Blue Canyon Kitchen, Tavern, Wine Bar , and Beyond is set to open next Monday. [The Beyond is my addition.] Anywhoo, that is when chef Brandt Evans will debut his…drum roll please…”Creative American Cooking.” [Makes me think of William Guthrie and his “Historical American Cuisine. BTW, where, where the hell is Bill?] Anywhoo again, it’s pretty cool that the once hick haven of Dallas, Rockwall, is getting an upscale vibe. I mean you can find plenty of natural beauty in the area—there’s a lake brimming with fish surrounded by trees and tons of birds, including a bald eagle. “Blue Canyon will not only be a place to enjoy comfort food with a kick, but will also become a special lakeside destination,” said Evans. “We can’t wait to serve our guests in our exclusive rotunda wine bar with killer sunsets or inside our lodge-inspired restaurant to enjoy one of my signature dishes like Tasmanian salmon with a root beer chive glaze sauce.” Hmm. No channel catfish? Killer sunsets? Can’t wait.
