Over the weekend, I hurriedly dropped into Eatzi’s. I needed some sweets for a holiday party and, say what you will about Eatzi’s past performance, its bakery has always delivered the goods. I hadn’t been in the once upon a time gourmet-to-go hotspot for months, maybe even a year. I’m happy to report that, with owner Phil Romano back, it looks like a rebound is in the works. The store layout was easy to navigate, displays popped with color, workers were helpful and friendly, and the placed buzzed with energy. I’m not reading to anoint it as the second coming. But Eatzi’s has it’s swagger back and that’s a good thing.
