(One of my closet gal pals, the lovely Lucia Simek and her brood…)
It’s a little late to line up a sitter for tonight, however, you could get your hubby to watch the kids and embark on some last minute girl time with one of your nearest and dearest.
After all, girl time is restorative, essential even. And it’s the very first thing (at least for me) that seems to fall by the wayside in the midst of, well, everything else we have going on.
So here’s the plan (stolen from my friend Liz): Grab a blanket, hit Bolsa Mercado/Eatzi’s/Whole Foods/Central Market/Carbone’s (you get the idea), and grab some picnic provisions. Then head to Klyde Warren Park for a little alfresco dining (it’s going to be beautiful tonight; you need to eat outside). Do not pass go. Do not collect $200.
After you’ve noshed, mosey over to the Dallas Museum of Art and cruise through the galleries. Then, a little before 7:30, make your way over to Horchow Auditorium for the DMA’s regular conversation/lecture series, with KERA’s Jeff Whittington moderating a chat about contemporary art between artist and UTA adjunct professor Carlos Donjuan, artist and associate professor at UTD Kim Cadmus Owens, and artist, art critic, and our very own D Moms contributing editor (and my dear friend) Lucia Simek.
Tickets are five bucks, and you’ll go home smarter. I promise.
