D Moms Shop Visit: Wellness Baby, A Hidden Gem In Uptown

|
Image

Wellness Baby opened it’s doors nearly three years ago, but the cozy shop in uptown still feels like a hidden gem. Occupying an old house on Routh Street, Wellness Baby is filled with modern baby furnishings, accessories, clothing, and gear from such cult brands as Oeuf, Nursery Works, Dwell Studio, and Bobo Choses. They also recently launched a new website featuring online shopping.

We stopped by to chat with store manager Meredith Perkins, who filled us in on some of her favorite items on offer, what’s new for spring, and a some changes they’ll be making in the coming months. Here are a few snippets from our conversation.

What make Wellness Baby unique?
“We have a cozy atmosphere and are really able to work closely with all our customers, not only focusing on their wants and needs but forming a lasting bond with them. We research the market to ensure we’re offering our clients the safest and highest quality products. Many of the high-end, modern and contemporary nursery and children’s furniture that we carry are displayed on our floor, so clients are able to see, feel, and touch the items before placing their order.”

What items can we look forward to seeing in the spring/summer?
We’re in the midst of changing things around a bit, focusing more on nursery and children’s bedroom furniture, but we’ll continue to carry a curated selection of strollers, baby clothing, and gifts. We’re especially excited about the new furniture collections by Spot on Square and Oeuf. We also love the Spring/Summer collection form Bobo Choses, a unique children’s clothing and accessories line from Paris that is simple, cool, and comfortable.

What’s your most popular item?
“It’s a tie between the Sleepytime Rocker by Nursery Works in Ecru that our customers love for its ability to look great in any room and the Nursery Works Tree Bookcase. It comes in a bright green color as well as white and was recently shown in Kourtney Kardashian’s nursery.”

Do you have any upcoming programs or events?
“We’re working on a Design Trade Program that we hope to present in March. This is a program that will offer interior decorators, designers, and architects a 10-20% discount on all our non-sale furniture merchandise and collections.”

What baby/kid product trends are you most excited about?
“Trends come and go, but what makes our store so special is that we offer products that are timeless. I love the fact that when someone comes to purchase a crib, not only are they getting a baby bed, but when the time comes the majority of the cribs will also convert in to a toddler bed. The great thing about the modern collections we offer is that they are made with quality craftsmanship that will last from generation to generation.”
