Rex Glendenning and Ray Washburne Named 2023 Commercial Real Estate Hall of Fame Inductees

The North Texas Commercial Association of Realtors has revealed its 2023 Hall of Fame Inductees. They are Rex Glendenning, founder of Rex Real Estate, and Ray Washburne, chairman and CEO of Charter Holdings.

The induction will take place at the organization’s 36th annual Hall of Fame event on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at the Dallas Country Club.

A fourth-generation Celina resident, Glendenning has been brokering some of the region’s largest land deals for more than four decades. Among the largest projects he’s been part of include Granite Park, Trophy Club, and moving the Dallas Cowboys headquarters from Irving to Frisco, creating the iconic mixed-use project The Star.

“Rex’s prodigious creativity, work ethic, and negotiation skills have contributed greatly to the strong growth north of Dallas,” said Robert Grunnah, Hall of Fame co-founder and committee member.

Ray Washburne

Washburne is president of Highland Park Village, one of the most iconic retail centers in the area. He acquired the property in 2009. He’s also president and CEO of real estate investment firm Charter Holdings and a co-founder of M Crowd Restaurants, which owns and operates Mi Cocina and The Mercury restaurants.

“Ray Washburne is not only a dynamic leader but also a savvy entrepreneur who brings success to every endeavor with which he’s involved,” said Darrell Hurmis, Hall of Fame co-founder and committee member. “We also greatly appreciate the time he’s given in service to his college, community, and country.”

Betsy Price

Price will receive the 2023 Industry Service Award for her leadership that brought significant development to Fort Worth. She was instrumental in running an efficient office that spurred growth and development in Fort Worth. After leaving the mayor’s office, Price now serves as a senior executive of business development for the Overwatch Fund, a real estate investment firm.

Founded in 1988, the NTCAR Hall of Fame celebrates the region’s iconic movers and shakers of commercial real estate. Past honorees include Trammell Crow, John Stemmons, John Carpenter, Roger Staubach, Henry S. Miller, Jerry Jones, Rose Perot Jr., Ray Hunt, and many others.

The most recent Hall of Fame inductees include Tim Headington, founder and CEO of Headington Cos., and Bill Cawley, chairman and CEO of Cawley Partners.
