Cresa Dallas is continuing to expand by adding four former Peloton Commercial Real Estate professionals: David Ditchman (principal), John Briggs and Tor Erickson (both senior vice presidents), and Hunter McGuinness (vice president).

It’s the latest move by Scott Bumpas, managing principal, who was tapped to re-establishing the company’s Dallas office of Cresa about three years ago. The employee-owned brokerage firm, based in Washington, D.C., has had several iterations in North Texas. In the past year, the Dallas office has grown from nine employees to 32, Bumpas told D CEO.

“We didn’t have a big presence in Dallas in the past,” He said. “Now, we’re large enough to handle any size portfolio. But we’re the only one that’s privately held and the only one that’s occupier-only focused, of the big firms that can handle the big portfolios. I think people appreciate that uniqueness, the differentiator that we have.”

The Peloton hires are part of plans to grow revenue at the Dallas office to $20 million to $25 million–where Cresa is at in similarly sized markets elsewhere. “We’ve only been open three years, so we’re on our way there,” Bumpas said. “But it is key to mention that it’s also about getting the right people. The process was really about making sure the chemistry was there.

“The Peloton four are absolutely integral to our growth as a company,” Bumpas continued. “Our goal is to bring the most talented, culture-minded, occupier specialists to our office, and you can’t get much more experienced than this group.”

Bumpas jokes that he begged and cried to get the Peloton four to his company, but Ditchman said it was really about them wanting to stick together as a group and find a place where they felt comfortable. “We also wanted to be on a platform that was going to continue to grow and expand,” he said.

The Team

Briggs comes to Cresa with nearly two decades of commercial real estate experience, much of which was spent with Peloton, a Dallas-based firm that was acquired by JLL in September. He earned a BBA in finance from Southern Methodist University, where he also played on the school’s basketball team.

McGuinness established Peloton’s analytics platform, a business intelligence-focused process which procures the data and spatial analytics necessary to help both brokers and clients better understand markets, trends, and strategic locations. He earned an undergraduate degree in business geography and GIS and is now pursuing a master’s degree in advanced data analytics from the University of North Texas.

Erickson brings to Cresa 17 years of commercial real estate experience on the landlord and occupier side, as well as adding an entrepreneurial and commercial real estate valuation background to the mix. He has represented many professional services, technology, and healthcare firms throughout his career..

In addition to leading the tenant advisory division at Peloton, Ditchman’s 20-plus years of commercial real estate experience includes leadership roles with E Smith Realty Partners and Forest City Enterprises. He also served as principal of his own company, Ditchman West. He earned a BS degree in marketing and management information systems from Miami University of Ohio.

“Cresa is sophisticated and focused on success, while at the same time, dedicated to keeping the same culture in place,” Ditchman said. “We did our research and talked to a lot of people when deciding to relocate from Peloton. Ultimately, Cresa’s Dallas office proved to be the best choice for the entire group.”
