Buzzy, mega-cinema entertainment destination Cinépolis is bringing its luxury theaters to The Shops at Willow Bend as part of the mall’s $145 million renovation.

Owner of the Shops, Starwood Retail Partners, says the announcement of the new anchor tenant for the mall is a big win for the future of its Collin County property.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Cinépolis to The Shops at Willow Bend; this brings North Dallas and Plano residents a high-quality luxury entertainment experience unlike any other in the area,” said Jeff Zeigler, COO at Starwood Retail Partners. “With Crayola Experience, Equinox, the North Texas Performing Arts children’s theatre, The District, the Ascension Annex and now Cinépolis, we’re pleased to continue introducing a variety of entertainment, dining and shopping experiences, unique to this market.”

Cinépolis, which moved its North American headquarters to Addison in 2016, is the fourth largest movie theater chain in the world and has been expanding quickly in the Dallas-Fort Worth.

Its 10-screen 40,000-square-foot cinema at Willow Bend will be its third location in North Texas. The other two are in Euless and Victory Park.

The theater is slated for completion in 2020.
