CRE Awards Finalists: Excellence in Construction and Engineering

Honoring the hands that are shaping our city's future

On March 28 at Gilley’s Dallas, we announced our 2019 Commercial Real Estate Awards winners. The winner of the Excellence in Construction and Engineering award is Beck Group. The finalists were Balfour-Baetty, Jacobs, and MYCON General Contractors

Winner: The Beck Group

Fred Perpall and Beck Group, headquartered in the Arts District downtown, had a banner year in 2018 and is making game-changing projects and ideas for Dallas a reality. The most notable project Beck Group has underway is the herculean task of bringing AT&T’s $100 million reinvestment in downtown Dallas through the Discovery District to life. The project will add much needed green space, retail options, and energy to the southern edge of downtown.

Balfour-Beatty

The top ranked North Texas general contractor by revenue two years running, Balfour-Beatty’s impact on the built environment in the metro is extensive. In 2018, the Dallas-based firm completed $2 billion of projects across Texas has another $1 billion underway. Notable projects in 2018 include The Epic office tower in Deep Ellum, the Atelier luxury apartments in the Arts District, and the New Parkland Hospital.

Steve Demetriou

Jacobs

Jacobs had a big year in 2018, purchasing CH2M, an engineering firm, selling off its Energy Chemical and Resources business line, and is working on a number of high-profile transportation projects including the development of an automated transportation system at Dallas Midtown in partnership with the City of Dallas.

Charlie Myers

MYCON General Contractors

Headed up by Charlie Myers, MYCON General Contractors has been growing quickly over the last few years, posting a revenue increases big revenue increases culminating in a jump from $190 million in 2016 to $300 million by the end of 2017. Continuing that growth into 2018, MYCON acquired Pavlovich Construction Services and completed a major manufacturing facility for DynaEnergetics.
