Real estate often creates opportunities to have a real impact on communities. Such is the case of an innovative project happening at St. Philip’s School and Community Center, located at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave in southern Dallas.

Children’s Medical Center launched a strategic partnership earlier this year with St. Philip’s, opening a MyChildren’s pediatric primary care center on site. Through this creative platform, the partners will provide much-needed services to an entire neighborhood.

People in south Dallas of all ages are currently drawn to St. Phillp’s campus for services that include a comprehensive community center, gymnasiums, chapel, food pantry, computer training, and financial literacy classes. Through the foresight of MyChildren’s, now this center will offer pediatric healthcare as well.

MyChildren’s pediatric primary care practices are located in neighborhoods where high numbers of families depend on Medicaid and the state’s Children’s Health Insurance Program. Declining reimbursement prevents many physicians from accepting new Medicaid patients. The MyChildren’s pediatric primary care practices provide critical healthcare access for thousands of children, leading to better overall care.

As we continue to GrowSouth as a city, relying on creative and cohesive collaborations—similar to what MyChildren’s and St. Philip’s have done—will provide more opportunities to make a real difference in Dallas.
