Footwear Company Hari Mari Hires Former Billy Reid CEO as President

Footwear brand Hari Mari has tapped former board member Jake Szczepanski to be its new president. In his new role, Szczepanski will scale and manage the company’s internal operations and supply chain. He will also oversee the development and creation of Hari Mari’s upcoming apparel line, which is expected to launch in April of 2021.

“I look forward to leveraging my experience to build on the brand’s momentum, helping to grow a premium flip-flop maker at its core into a fulsome premium lifestyle label in the months and years to come,” he said.

Szczepanski is co-founder and former CEO of Alabama-based clothier Billy Reid, where he led the company for 13 years until 2017. He has also served as a management consultant with Artisan Management Partners for four years, advising large organizations on how to increase revenue and capitalize on business opportunities. In 2018, Szczepanski took a post as managing director of retail, residential, and mixed-use developer Cypress Equities before taking his current post at Hari Mari.

Szczepanski received a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University.


Cristo Rey Dallas College Prep

Michael A. Mendoza, president

Michael A. Mendoza has been named president of local high school Cristo Rey Dallas College Prep. Mendoza will begin in his new role on January 25.

Mendoza has nearly 30 years of experience in grassroots and executive management across areas including public policy, philanthropy and private enterprise. He most recently spent roughly a year as a City of Dallas executive officer in the city manager’s office, focused on strategy and special initiatives. His previous focus touched on economic development and neighborhood services.

Prior to his work with the city, Mendoza served as trade commissioner for the Consulate General of Canada for 21 years, advising on cross-border commercial alliances, foreign-direct investments and technology partnerships, and business development. Mendoza has also held posts with the US Agnecy for International Development, the USDA, and Dallas Market Center.

Mendoza received a bachelor’s degree from Southern Methodist University.


Frisco Chamber of Commerce

Whitley Penn audit partner Matthew Reiter has been named chair of the Frisco Chamber of Commerce board of directors for 2021. Reiter, who joined the board four years ago, is the partner in charge of Whitley Penn’s Plano office. In addition, he leads the firm’s public company audit practice and technology for the audit practice.

Reiter holds an MSA degree from Texas Tech University.

Commercial real estate firm Avison Young has hired Daniel Rudd to be a principal in its Dallas office. In his new role, Rudd will focus on growing occupier business solutions and mentoring the firm’s associates.

Rudd was previously executive vice president of office brokerage and tenant representation at Colliers International. Prior to his nine years there, Rudd was senior vice president of office brokerage and tenant representation at Grubb & Ellis. Before that, Rudd held vice president roles at CBRE and Trammell Crow Co. and was managing partner at Mohr Partners.

He holds a bachelor’s degree from Baylor University.

Video storytelling company OneDay has shaken up its executive leadership suite in response to the company’s recent growth and operation expansions. Deena Naccarella has been promoted to CFO and Carter Severns has been promoted to vice president of marketing. Additionally, Eric Varin and Victoria Repice were hired as vice president of client services and vice president of product, respectively.

Eric Varin, former vice president of sale and marketing at Allegro Senior Living, has 11 years of experience in senior living strategy, sales, and marketing. During this time, he partnered closely with OneDay, whose clients are in large part in the senior living space, on several projects.

Repice joins OneDay from SiriusXM, where she was vice president of product management for six years. She brings more than 25 years of experience to her role, including senior director of product management posts at NQ Mobile, Samsung Telecommunications America, Barnes & Noble, and Sony Ericsson.

Naccarella has been with OneDay since 2019, serving as vice president of finance. As CFO, she will be responsible for leading the company’s financial strategy and executing plans for new market expansion.

Severns also joined OneDay in 2019 as director of marketing and has led the company’s marketing strategy, shaped its brand story, redesigned its website, and launched OneDay Flywheel. In his new role, Severns will continue leading marketing strategy and brand awareness in addition to developing go-to-market strategies for future industries.

Varin received a bachelor’s degree from Connecticut College and MBAs from Cornell University and Queen’s University in Canada. Repice received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a master’s degree from Syracuse University. Naccarella received bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of North Texas. And Severns received a bachelor’s degree from Texas State University.

Michael Ware and Taylor Hill have recently joined Institutional Property Advisors’ Dallas office as senior vice president and corporate real estate advisor, respectively. Institutional Property Advisors is a division of local real estate services firm Marcus & Millichap.

Both Ware and Hill previously spent more than five years with Berkadia, a Berkshire Hathway and Jeffries Financial Group commercial real estate venture, transacting multifamily assets.

Ware’s career began at Marcus & Millichap, and he has a strong background in investment underwriting, strategic marketing, and sales negotiations. Additionally, he is a member of the Folsom Institute for Real Estate board and chairs a committee for the Urban Land Institute’s Center for Leadership.

Hill also spent time at Marcus & Millichap and specializes in the marketing and disposition of multifamily assets throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area. He also advises clients on investment strategies, transaction management, and financial structuring.

Ware received a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Texas and an MBA from Southern Methodist University. Hill received a bachelor’s degree from Southern Methodist University.


Sidecar Commercial Real Estate

Sidecar Commercial Real Estate has hired Ray Martin and Kelland Drumgoole. Martin will focus on inside business development and new client acquisition as vice president and corporate real estate advisor, while Drumgoole will serve as a field-based advisor.

Martin previously was a real estate advisor for Martin Real Estate Advisors Group|United Real Estate, where he served for five years. He has also held a strategic account executive post with market research and consulting company Parks Associates and was enterprise sales director for software company SoftwareOne. In addition, he founded Transformation Advisory, a company which connects real estate buyers and sellers in DFW through management and marketing services.

In addition to his work at Sidecar, Drumgoole is an acquisition manager with Mae Property Investments, where he identifies investment opportunities through local contacts in several industries and coordinated joint venture agreements. He was previously a real estate agent with EXp Realty and has held advisor, account executive, and business development manager posts at online real estate company OpenDoor, Idearc Media and Corinthian Colleges, and SosoActive Media, respectively. Additionally, he served as school programs administrator for DISD for six years.

Martin received a bachelor’s degree from California Coast University. Drumgoole received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and a master’s degree from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Elise Patterson, digital account manager

Digital BizCom, the company’s digital division has promoted Elise Patterson to digital account manager.

Patterson joined BizCom as an intern in 2020. In her new position, she will provide digital design and social media support to agency clients, including Neighborly, one of the world’s largest franchisor of home-service brands.

Patterson earned bachelor’s degrees at Texas State University.
