Neiman Marcus named a new vice president and chief information security officer after losing its first CISO five months ago.

The company has hired Shamoun Siddiqui, former vice president and CISO oat Nationstar Mortgage, to lead cybersecurity and compliance strategies for the Dallas-based retailer. Siddiqui reports to Sarah Miller, senior vice president and chief information officer, and replaces Sarah Hendrickson, who left the company in June.

Prior to joining Neiman Marcus, Siddiqui revamped Nationstar’s compliance program and strengthened the company’s security against cyber threats by establishing processes and implanting technology. He also previously served as the director of information security and risk management at Southlake-based Sabre. There, he built the information security and compliance program from scratch. He’s also served leadership roles at CVS Caremark Inc., Hitachi/Ricoh Printing Systems America, and Advance Engineering Research Organization.

Neiman Marcus brought on its first CISO in November 2014, about 10 months after suffering a data breach that affected an estimated 350,000 customers and cost the company $1.6 million in settlement fees. Since that reported breach, the company has suffered at least two other breaches.

Siddiqui will be charged with monitoring risks and breaches moving forward. “He is a strategic leader with extensive experience in the analysis, design and implementation of all aspects of risk reduction and data protection,” Miller said in a release. “As a business savvy leader, Shamoun believes in Information Security’s role as a facilitator of business rather than an obstacle.”
