For the fifth straight year, D CEO has been named the best regional business magazine in the country. The D Magazine Partners publication snagged the honor again on Saturday at Dallas’ Fairmont Hotel, where the national Alliance of Area Business Publishers met for its annual summer conference and gave its Editorial Excellence Awards to newspaper and magazine business periodicals. D CEO won a total of seven, including four gold awards.

In handing the publication their “Best In Show” award for magazines, the contest judges cited D CEO‘s “clean, easy-to-read design in support of strong stories.” The judges also lauded Tara Nieuwesteeg’s “fast-paced and engaging” article about Match.com (a gold winner for the year’s best feature in its category), as well as Art Stricklin’s story about golfer Jordan Spieth, which they said “moves like one of [Spieth’s] 300-yard drives, with beauty and precision.” (Art’s piece took gold for best personality profile). In addition, the judges gave a gold award to D CEO’s “authoritative and compelling” Real Estate Annual, which Christine Perez reported and wrote.

The solid showing resulted from a true team effort. Those due credit include managing editor Danielle Abril; special projects manager Carly Mann; art director Hamilton Hedrick (the judges praised his “beautiful” work overall); former senior editor Matt Goodman, who’s since become D’s online editorial director; and former executive editor Perez, who now works for Cushman & Wakefield in Dallas. Hilary Lau and Lauren DeLozier, former managing editor and associate editor, respectively, also contributed to the effort.
