Plano-based Service Experts will soon have a new leader at the top. Scott Boose will assume his role as president and CEO of the company in May.

Boose’s predecessor, Scott Boxer, will retire in May after nearly 13 years with the company. Boxer has been helping with the transition since March.

Boose, previously president of Houston-based Direct Energy Services, an electricity and natural gas provider that served over 1 million customers annually, brings an extensive background in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning industry. Among his leadership skills, Boose has experience in operations management, strategic planning, and finance. As Service Experts’ chief executive, he will be charged with both strategic and operational leadership, including growth plans.

Boxer worked for Service Experts from 2003 until 2010 as president and chief operating officer. He rejoined the then-struggling company in 2013 as CEO. Within eight months of his return, same-store sales were up 7 percent, and the company returned to profitability.

Service Experts, a heating and air conditioning service firm, has more than 90 locations in the U.S. and Canada and employs roughly 2,800 people. In 2015, the company did more than $400 million in sales.
