Festival season has officially kicked off, and it's totally apparent this weekend, with the Tacos & Tequila Festival, Wildwood Festival, Main Street Festival, and more.

Kinky Friedman

May 19-20| Dan’s Silverleaf, Denton and Poor David’s Pub

Texas musician and sometime gubernatorial candidate Kinky Friedman will play two sets this weekend, both benefiting his Gold Star Camp for Kids at Echo Hill Ranch. The proceeds of the shows provide scholarships and travel expenses for the children who have lost military or first responder family members. Get tickets

DSO and E.T.

May 19-21| Meyerson Symphony Center

Even after 500 viewings, I promise the story of E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial is still a terrific movie. But if you want to get a little more out of Steven Spielberg’s work, head to the Meyerson this weekend to hear the Dallas Symphony Orchestra play John William’s Oscar-winning score in sync with the movie. Get tickets here

Main Street Festival

May 19-21| Downtown Grapevine

In addition to good food and a lot of craft beer, Grapevine’s Main Street Festival will offer local acts, as well as country band Little Texas on Friday night and pop rock group Vertical Horizon on Saturday night. Chicken N Pickle will also offer pickleball games. Get tickets here

Wildflower! Arts and Music Festival

May 19-21| Galatyn Park Urban Center, Richardson

Local festival favorite Wildflower! Arts and Music Festival is a can’t-miss this weekend. In addition to art, street performers, acrobats, magicians, and tons of food and beverages, the festival also offers musical acts on a variety of stages in Galatyn Park and inside the Eisemann Center. This year’s lineup includes Judah & the Lion, Squeezebox Bandits, Salim Nourallah, Little River Band, The Romantics, Joan Jett and The Blackhearts, Joshua Ray Walker, and Jimmie Vaughan and His Tilt-A-Whirl Band. Get tickets here

Tacos & Tequila Festival

May 20, 2 p.m.| Panther Island Pavilion, Fort Worth

First, there are tacos. Then there’s tequila. But also, a lot of music, including Flo Rida, Ja Rule, Fat Joe, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, and Montell Jordan. And if that’s not enough, there’s also Lucha Libre wrestling, a salsa and hot sauce battle, and a chihuahua beauty pageant. Get tickets here

Dave Matthews Band

May 20, 7 p.m.| Dos Equis Pavilion

One of the creepiest dates I’ve ever been on involved the song “Crash Into Me,” but that’s not an indictment of the Dave Matthews Band—it’s a strike against the pukka shell-necklaced Chad. Fans of DMB will appreciate that this tour includes their favorite members, including Stefan Lessard, Carter Beauford, Tim Reynolds, and UNT alum Jeff Coffin. They’re touring in support of their latest album, Walk Around the Moon, which is out on Friday. Get tickets here
