Seryn
December 30, 8 p.m. | The Kessler
Formerly of Denton, the currently Nashville-based indie folk band Seryn will bring their genre-bending sounds to the Kessler on New Years Eve-Eve. Christmas may be over, but expect the band once named Paste Magazine’s “Best of SXSW” to bring their latest song, “Christmas Time at Last,” to the stage as well. If their music sounds familiar, it’s probably because you’ve unwittingly caught it on the big screen (or TV screen) in productions from Disney, Wells Fargo, Whataburger, VH1, and more. Get tickets here.
Bob Schneider
December 30, 9 p.m. | Granada Theater
Austin singer-songwriter Bob Schneider’s long career spans time as the frontman of The Ugly Americans and The Scabs. He’ll hit the Granada Friday night to support his latest album, In a Roomful of Blood with a Sleeping Tiger. Schneider can be quiet and thoughtful one moment, and in the next unleash a song explicitly designed to get your booty moving, which is why he’s amassed a pile of local music awards and occasionally finds his songs on movie soundtracks. Get tickets here.
The Toadies and Flickerstick
December 30, 10 p.m. | Billy Bob’s Texas, Fort Worth
Fort Worth alt-rockers have been up to plenty in the 27 (what?) years since their breakthrough album, Rubberneck, put them on the map with songs like “Possum Kingdom,” “Backslider,” and “I Come From the Water.” Fellow local 90s rock band Flickerstick opens. Get tickets here.
