Amplify 817 Showcase

August 17, 7 p.m. | Will Rogers Auditorium

GR4NT, Bencjones, Averi Burk, and Cut Throat Finches headline the concert dedicated to the 817 area code. Scarface

August 18, 7 p.m. | House of Blues

A Houston legend leaves the building. Scarface says he will bid farewell to hip-hop with a 32-city tour. Known as the “rapper’s rapper,” the former Geto Boys member has spent over two decades as an ambassador of Houston and southern music to the world. The musician has expressed interest in the potential of a musical career in blues or rock, but this is apparently the last time to hear him spit the songs he is revered for. Get tickets

Jason Aldean

August 19, 7:30 p.m. | Dos Equis Pavilion

The country superstar recently celebrated his 27th No. 1 Hit for “Trouble With a HeartBreak” from the singer’s tenth studio album, Macon, Georgia. The two-part album highlights Aldean’s reverence for his hometown, which just saw a mysterious mural appear on the side of a Dollar General store. That mural, painted by resident Shemika Bussey, describes Aldean as “Macon’s Greatest.” Buy tickets.

BLXST

August 20, 7 p.m. | House of Blues

For fans of the Issa Rae universe, BLXST is an essential part of the listening experience. His smooth R&B vocals can be heard in Sweet Life: Los Angeles on HBO Max or the cult favorite Insecure. The Los Angeles singer has also worked with Ty Dolla Sign, Tyga, Rick Ross, and West Coast hip-hop royalty Dom Kennedy. Purchase tickets to be transported to L.A. for the night.

The DDD Experience

August 20, 7 p.m. | The Echo Lounge & Music Hall

Bobby Sessions returns with the second installment of The DDD Experience. Described as a “celebration of the city and its artists,” this edition includes a few performers familiar to FrontRow Readers. Radio DJ Jazzi Black serves as the event’s host. Expect sets by Deejay Mike B and DJ Imperial and performances by Bobby Sessions, Tray Haggerty, Nezi Momdou, Jada Arnell, Devy Stonez, David Morgan, Free Blck, Brionne, Yon The Don, and Profit God. The DDD Experience is the perfect litmus test for which musician is up next in Dallas.
