July 14, 6 p.m. | The Rustic

Go Wildcats! My fellow Abilene Christian University alumni, Aaron Watson, takes the stage with singer/songwriter Kimberly Kelly. The Texas country music star is on tour to Unwanted Man, his latest album. Forbes describes Watson as “one of country music’s biggest DIY success stories.” His debut album, The Underdog, broke Billboard records upon its release in 2015. Purchase tickets to witness a country legend in the making.

Jahn Dough, M3CCA, Neaux ID, Graham Malice

July 15, 8 p.m. | Ear Hustlaz Studios, 4735 Memphis St.

There is never a bad time to support local talent. Rapper Black Pat hosts an independent music showcase with performances by a few of the city’s emerging talents. Jahn Dough, M3CCA, Neaux ID, and Graham Malice will serve as the night’s entertainment with DJ ill Tommie on the turntables. Based on the musicians’ social media feeds, there is a chance of another local rapper or two who may show up as a surprise guest. Buy tickets.

Red Bull Batalla

July 16, 2 p.m. | Club Vivo

Immerse yourself in the world of Spanish freestyle rap for an afternoon. The world’s largest Spanish freestyle rap competition comes to Dallas for its regional qualifier. Over 15 Spanish-speaking MCs from across the United States and Puerto Rico will face off in one-on-one competition. The final four will advance to Miami for the National Final in Miami. July 16, 7 p.m. | Dos Equis Pavilion

Ease into next week with a night of good ol’ fashioned Americana and folk rock. For a little under two decades, Brandi Carlile has bewitched audiences with her warm and sensual voice that has taken root in various music spaces and genres. Buy tickets to see the Grammy winner live.
