On Wednesday night, Isaiah Rashad performed a collection of songs from The House Is Burning and The Sun’s Tirade to an energetic, packed-out crowd at South Side Ballroom. Before Rashad graced the stage, OG Bobby Billions, Ray Vaughn, Childish Major (not pictured), and FRVRFriday hyped up the crowd for the long awaited return of the Top Dawg Entertainment rapper.

At the beginning of his set, Rashad acknowledged Dallas as the hometown of his best friend music producer, Kal Banx. In fact, the rapper brought a birthday cake onto the stage to celebrate Banx’s 30th birthday. Banx, a Duncanville native, has produced hits for Wale, J. Cole, Baby Keem, and was responsible for a significant amount of The House Is Burning, Rashad’s third studio album. Backstage, Banx’s family watched as he shared several eccentric moments with Rashad on stage.

Throughout the performance, Rashad gave out free merchandise to attendees and split Banx’s birthday cake with guests. During one distribution, Rashad exclaimed about his love for the South, especially how Southern tour dates remind him of his hometown, Chattanooga, Tennessee. As the last shirt made its way to a prospective audience member, Rashad reverted back into his rapper personality to dominate the stage for the remainder of the night.
