If you’re reading this, you’re mere hours away from a three-day holiday weekend. Physically, you’re at your office (whether at home or in person), dreaming about a house party, pool party, day party, or anything to finish off the brief work week. Before you clock out and put your mind on do not disturb, I wanted to recommend three new additions to your Memorial Day playlist.

Who Is He (ChopNotSlop Remix) by Devy Stonez ft. Chopstar Kimblee

The Crate Cody-directed video for Who Is He (ChopNotSlop Remix) by Devy Stonez ft. Chopstar DJ Kimblee embodies the hallucinogenic nature of the chopped and screwed remix. Cody’s trippy visuals amplify Stonez’s elongated vocals over DJ Kimblee’s series of trippy chops, which adds an elusive aura of Southern gothic to the track. Who Is He is the featured single off the ChopNotSlop edition of Stoney, his latest EP.

En Vogue by The Outfit, TX

“Been grinding for twelve yearsMan I gotta want it.” The opening lines of En Vogue reflect the longevity of Outlaw Mel’s presence in the city’s hip-hop community. Mel, the unofficial ambassador of Dallas hip-hop, unites with Dance Dailey to construct a memoriam video for the elder statesman to vocalize his feelings about his position as one of the longest-running contemporary acts. The song’s somber tone provides a reminiscent outlook of the city’s past and evaluates its value in an ever-changing future.

333 by Zayland

In fewer than two minutes, Zayland cements his status as the city’s R&B heartthrob on 333. The latest single provides the melodic sounds to an ill-fated relationship. Zayland’s autotuned vocals emphasized his hurt on the track’s standout line, “This love ain’t enough.” Lyrically, the song aligns with the genre’s tradition of pained love, but the production hides the longing under the guise of a song that could easily chart on Billboard Hot 100.
