True to Form, Post Malone’s 2019 Posty Fest Lineup Comes With a Few Surprises

Pharrell, Meek Mill, Jaden Smith, a viral Santa, and an indie rock group are among the acts joining Malone at his eponymous festival.

If you haven’t heard, Post Malone’s self-titled music festival is returning to his hometown on November 2. The lineup for the second annual Posty Fest was announced yesterday with Meek Mill, Pharrell Williams, Jaden Smith, Dallas’ own Yella Beezy, and others joining the roster. Posty himself curated the festival and will, of course, headline it.

The Grammy-nominated, Grapevine-born musician released his third studio album, Hollywood’s Bleeding, on September 6. The record, which includes hit singles “Wow” and “Sunflower,” features an array of guests ranging from Ozzy Osbourne to Halsey to Travis Scott.

It’s not too surprising, then, that the lineup for this year’s Posty Fest is also a little eclectic. You can expect more rappers and R&B stars, like Rae Sremmurd, Dominic Fike, Doja Cat, Tyla Yaweh, Saint Jhn, and Corpus Christi’s Iann Dior. There are a couple local acts on the bill, rapper Snowy and singer Maj. Then there’s Kerwin Frost, the DJ and influencer who’s best known as the guy who dressed up as Santa at the Kardashian’s Christmas party and created this viral video. He later DJ’d the party, which seems like a solid credential.

Finally, there’s one artist that just doesn’t seem to mesh with the others: decidedly low-key indie rock outfit Beach Fossils will bring an interesting contrast to Posty Fest 2019. There are some surprise guests to be announced, so later additions could balance things out.

Don’t get me wrong, I really like the Beach Fossils. Their music feels like taking a nostalgic drive with the windows down. But I’m wondering what they’re doing here.

Nevertheless, Malone’s strange creative choice only makes me (and many others, I’m sure) love him more. Posty Fest 2019 takes place on Saturday, November 2 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. Tickets go on sale this Saturday, September 14, 10 a.m. at www.postyfest2019.com.
