Shoot Your Shot at Wheelhouse’s Summer of Love Dating Game

Because it's hard to meet people IRL.

Are you single? (Yes, I still am, boys.) Are you tired of dating apps? Are you willing to put yourself in potentially embarrassing but adventurous situations to find your summer fling? Wheelhouse has a proposition for you. The Design District gastropub is doing a ‘60s-style dating game show on Fridays this month, starting tonight, baby.

The Summer of Love Dating Game, hosted by comedian Jade Smith and personality Drew Lyons, puts one bachelor or bachelorette behind a screen and sets them up with three prospective dates. The mystery singleton asks their suitors questions, getting pretty personal, and chooses their favorite match based on the answers. There’s a TV show that’s just like this but I can’t remember what it’s called. Doing it in front of a booze-sipping local audience seems less risky than doing it on a national stage, though.

The couple will get a $75 gift card toward their first date at Wheelhouse or Sassetta. I hope the losers get something, too, but Wheelhouse hasn’t said anything about that.

If you’re interested in playing, fill out this form to put yourself in the running. I don’t want to spoil any surprises, but one of my D Magazine colleagues may or may not be on the show at some point. He or she has gotten multiple, handwritten love letters sent to the office from strangers, so, like, they’re pretty charming.

If you’re already boo’d up, you can bring your significant other and watch the sparks fly on Fridays at 9 p.m. throughout July.
