Family-Friendly Festivals
The Dallas Arboretum has a few festive things planned for Memorial Day weekend. The Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden will have family-friendly crafts, educational activities, a “red, white, and fruit” tasting in the Incredible Edible Garden, and more. The Memorial Day events are included in general admission to the garden.
The Dallas Symphony Orchestra continues its tradition of performing at Flag Pole Hill on Memorial Day. The holiday celebration will include an appearance by Miss America Nia Franklin and a fireworks display. It’s free to attend and begins at 8:15 p.m.
Klyde Warren Park’s Memorial Day Music Fest brings a dozen musical acts and local vendors downtown on Sunday. The party starts at 2:45 p.m. with Austin-based David Beck’s Tejano Weekend, and continues with performances by Joe McBride and The Texas Rhythm Club, Jonathan Tyler, Blane Howard, and more. Fearing’s Restaurant at The Ritz Carlton is having a Memorial Day BBQ and concert with Hayden Haddock on Monday from 1-5 p.m. Tickets are $95 and include two specialty cocktails, food, and games on the patio.
Granbury, a little town about an hour and a half from Dallas, is kicking off summer with a proper Memorial Day Weekend in its historic town square. There will be traditional Memorial Day ceremonies, family activities, vendor booths, live music, vintage military vehicles, a pie baking contest, and more. See the schedule here.
The Dallas Memorial March, a two-day event organized by Carry The Load, celebrates and honors fallen heroes. The event takes place in Reverchon Park and includes flag ceremonies, inspirational speeches, music, and more. See details here.
Great Outdoors
This weekend’s forecast predicts partially cloudy days with highs in the 80s. It’s the perfect time to jump into one of DFW’s nearby lakes (here’s our guide to those), or to check out one of the city’s pretty hiking trails (oh look, there’s a guide for those, too).
Pool Parties
Canvas Dallas has a Memorial Day Splash of Color pool party on Monday at noon at the Gallery Rooftop Lounge. Bring your swimsuit and enjoy some cocktails and apps by the infinity pool. Check out the work of painter Danny Joe Rose III while you’re there.
The Adolphus is having its Memorial Day Pool Party on its seventh floor deck on Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. $20 tickets include admission, towel service, valet, and a glass of champagne. The party is 21 and up only.
Circo Beach Club continues its Summer Music Series with a Memorial Day edition. The restaurant-adjacent day club will have DJs playing from 2-8 p.m. General admission is $20; there are also private cabanas and bottle service tables available.
Waterproof at The Statler will be celebrating Memorial Day on Sunday with DJ Blake Ward. Table reservations are required if you’re not on the list–email [email protected].
W Dallas in Victory Park has two Twisted Tiki Events this weekend at the WET Deck. Visit the hotel on Saturday and Sunday from 12-6 p.m. for live DJs, branded W Hotels swag, and giveaways. A resort pass is required to attend, and that’s $30.
Hotel Zaza has a DJ by the pool all weekend, and some Memorial Day bites and activities planned for Monday. The pool area is open to non hotel guests as it’s technically part of the bar. Click here to see more details and make reservations for bottle service.
Nightlife
The Rustic throws a Memorial Day Bash on Sunday from 8-11 p.m. featuring live music from duo Jackopierce and special guest Marie Miller. Admission is $25 in advance and $30 day of show.
The Dallas Brew Bus is doing its annual Memorial Day Tour on Saturday at 10:45 a.m. The guided tour will take you from Community Beer Co to Division Brewing to Oak Cliff Brewing, and to some food trucks in between. Tickets are $60 and include a seat on the bus, samples at each brewery, a snack, and a keepsake glass.
Deep Ellum Mimosa Walk: Memorial Day edition is Saturday from 12-3 p.m. Wear red, white, and blue and prepare to taste 14 mimosas from different neighborhood hotspots. Find tickets here.
No work on Monday means Double Wide is having a big party on Sunday night. Jamz Day Off will have Madonna cover band Primadonna, plus a drag show with Bleach and April Riton, and DJ sets by Blake Ward, Vivalatina, and Yung Wave. There will also be food trucks in the parking lot. There’s a $10 cover.
The Nines has a Memorial Day Party on Monday from 2-7 p.m. with DJs and a potluck with free food.
