Last year, Dallas educational non-profit Big Thought put out a call for 50 volunteer “dads for a day” for its Breakfast with Dads event at Billy Earl Dade Middle School. The internet pretty much broke when an astounding 600 men showed up to lend a hand. It was a heartwarming success story. So, this year, the organization decided to take things up a notch.

Big Thought is partnering with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Dallas to present Big Breakfast! at Dallas’ Oliver Wendell Holmes Middle School this Thursday, March 21, from 8:30-10:30 a.m. To be more inclusive, this year’s event is open to all students, and is calling for men and women volunteers. A total of 150 volunteers are needed, and spots are still open.

It’s all about fostering one-on-one mentorships and sparking meaningful conversations with the students. If you enjoy mentoring, this will also open a door to future school-based opportunities with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Texas. If this sounds like it’s something up your alley, you can register to volunteer (and get a background check) on the DISD website, then register for Big Breakfast here.
