Lindsey Buckingham is out. Tom Petty’s former guitarist Mike Campbell and Crowded House frontman Neil Finn are in. Fleetwood Mac shared more on the new lineup they’ve been quietly testing in an interview Rolling Stone posted this morning, the first proper story they sat down for after issuing the news. The band heads out on the road as this new pseudo-supergroup come October, and will land in Dallas February 7 at American Airlines Center.

As for Buckingham’s departure due to— reportedly— a scheduling conflict, “Words like ‘fired’ are ugly references as far as I’m concerned,” drummer Mick Fleetwood told Andy Greene. “Not to hedge around, but we arrived at the impasse of hitting a brick wall. This was not a happy situation for us in terms of the logistics of a functioning band. To that purpose, we made a decision that we could not go on with him. Majority rules in term of what we need to do as a band and go forward.”

The new roster isn’t a shocker. Campbell and Stevie Nicks have a history; he played on the Fleetwood Mac singer’s duet with Tom Petty “Stop Dragging My Heart Around” (1981) and co-wrote “I Don’t Care,” which appeared on Nicks’ collection of re-recorded demos called 24 Karat Gold: Songs From the Vault out in 2014.  Neil Finn’s name has come up from Fleetwood before as a “music friend,” and they’ve recorded together before.

Tickets for the Dallas show, part of a 52-date tour, go on sale Friday, May 4.
