Interabang Books has been weighing down its shelves and dotting some final i’s at its Preston Hollow store since its soft opening in July, and the independent bookstore is now gearing up to make it official in September.
Ann Patchett, the acclaimed author, co-owner of her own bookstore, and advocate of independent brick-and-mortar purveyors of the written word, will be the guest of honor at Interabang’s grand opening the evening of Sept. 11, following a weekend of literary-minded events at the store.
Patchett will deliver what we imagine as a sort of pep rally for independent bookstores. Interabang is also proposing a toast with beer and wine. The event is free — although you should consider buying a book. Interabang, meanwhile, is open for business at the southeast corner of Preston and Royal. The bookstore, which we said was just what Dallas needs in June, has already been keeping up a full schedule of author events and readings.
