We’re at least a few weeks late on this, but Sam Lao’s music video for “Grenade,” off of last year’s SPCTRMis fantastic. A clear tribute to the fisheye lens, over-the-top attitude, and vibrant palette of director Hype Williams, it’s got enough of its own visual flair to distinguish it from iconic videos from the likes of Missy Elliott and Busta Rhymes.

That’s thanks to director Jeremy Biggers, Lao’s husband and collaborator, and one of the hardest-working artists in Dallas. Biggers was featured in the July issue of D Magazine, so after watching the video for “Grenade,” read this.
