Thursday (07/13)

The Asian Film Festival of Dallas, featuring Chinese martial arts movies, Thai dramas, and so much more, begins at the Angelika and continues through next week.

Hans Zimmer, the most well-known film score composer not named John Williams, conducts some of his best music (The Lion King, Christopher Nolan movies, others) at the Verizon Theatre.

Oak Cliff’s own Jimmie Vaughan is at the House of Blues.

Friday (07/14)

Heads will roll from all the fun had in the Bishop Arts District for Bastille on Bishop, the Francophile Bastille Day celebration. It’s like St. Patrick’s Day, only more pretentious and with wine in place of green beer.

Kendrick Lamar, best rapper alive, plays the American Airlines Center.

Saturday (07/15)

Third Eye Blind and the Silversun Pickups bridge a generation of alternative rock at Starplex Pavilion.

Tim DeLaughter, evidently freed from the duties of the Tripping Daisy reunion, is back in the Polyphonic Spree saddle for Trees’ 9th anniversary show.

Sunday (07/16)

The Festival of Independent Theatres is underway at the Bath House Cultural Center.

Rob from the rich and give to the Dallas Theater Center for a staging of the ongoing production of its original musical, Hood.
