The beloved Dallas band Tripping Daisy will return for its first show in more than 17 years this May at Homegrown Festival.

Central Track first reported the reunion Thursday, picking up on social media hints from the band, while Homegrown Festival today publicly confirmed the place and time: May 13 at Main Street Garden downtown.

The group, a Dallas favorite shortly after forming in 1990, later found national success with hits like “I Got A Girl.” Tripping Daisy split in 1999 after the death of guitarist Wes Berggren. Singer and guitarist Tim DeLaughter went on to lead the justifiably adored Polyphonic Spree.

Tripping Daisy’s stature as one of the city’s most successful and influential bands has maybe only grown in its absence, and news of the band’s return should thrill anybody who spent late nights in Deep Ellum in the ’90s.

There are few other details on the reunion for now. Homegrown Festival has yet to announce the rest of its lineup, which should be another impressive roster of Texas talent if history is any guide, but early tickets are already available here.
