Super Bowl LIVE features 34 performers from different genres and styles of music, but all share the same home state of Texas. The nine-day festival leading up to the kickoff of Super Bowl LI Sunday at Houston’s NRG Stadium brings food, music, and entertainment to Discovery Green, the park at the heart of the Bayou City.

Among the artists performing are North Texas natives Leon Bridges, Sam Lao, and Sarah Jaffe.

Bridges, no stranger to big stages, will headline Friday night’s performance. Since the release of his debut album Coming Home in 2015, the Fort Worth soul singer has rocketed to stardom, making the rounds at music festivals and talk shows and appearing on Saturday Night Live.

Dallas rapper Sam Lao, who plays Tuesday, has made her unique hip-hop sound heard throughout the city. Lao was named “Best Music Act” in 2014 by D Magazine and continued her success last year with a new album, SPCTRM, and its infectious single, “Pineapple.”

Jaffe, originally from Denton, has been a presence in the local music scene since the release of her 2008 EP Even Born Again. Her 2015 EP, Visions, featured collaborations with Dallas artists, like the song “Vision,” featuring Lao and fellow musician ZHORA. Jaffe is also one half of the musical duo, The Dividends, alongside Grammy Award winning producer Symbolic One (S1).

The free concert series, which will include performances from other heavyweight Texan musicians like ZZ Top, Solange, and Gary Clark Jr., continues until kickoff Sunday. For more information and a full schedule, go here.
