The beloved musician and artistic pioneer Prince is no longer with us. His legacy does live on. One comforting aspect of the death of an artist comes in knowing that they left behind a body of work that keeps their presence alive. Through his art, Prince still reigns.

We can find closure by jamming to his music and watching Purple Rain, and events coming up in North Texas make this easy to do.

  • Tonight (Monday) Sundown at Granada will host a rooftop showing of Prince’s Purple Rain. The night will begin with a Prince listening hour at 7:30 p.m., followed by a screening of the film.
  • Tonight, Double Wide will host their usual Motown Mondays, this time with a tribute to Prince. The music will begin at 9 p.m., and continue late into the night.
  • AMC theaters throughout North Texas, including in Mesquite and Arlington, will be screening Purple Rain at various times through April 27. A list of participating theaters can be found here.
  • RBC is hosting “Rest in Peace: The Prince Tribute Night” on April 26 to pay tribute to Prince with live music.
  • All Studio Movie Grill locations will be showing Purple Rain on April 26, April 27, and April 28 at various times between 7 and 8 pm. Details and ticket information can be found here.
  • Crown and Harp will honor the Purple One on April 27 with feature music and video clips of Prince performances. Per the event page, this will be “an intense tribute, undoubtedly.”
  • The Texas Theatre is screening Purple Rain on 35mm on April 30. The night will begin with the screening, followed by a lively dance party. The event site says, “Let’s go crazy,” and we’re sure Prince would’ve been good with that.

As Prince put it: “Never say the words, ‘they’re gone.’ They’ll come back.”

Celebrate Prince and the artist he will always be.
