This past Friday before the Texas Theatre screened the David Bowie-starring cult classic film The Man Who Fell to the Earth, they debuted a new trailer for an upcoming screening of another classic, Ghostbusters. As they have on a few other occasions, the Aviation Cinemas filmmakers, who own and operate the Texas Theatre, didn’t just roll old footage from the film. Instead, they created what amounts to a hilarious two minute homage to Ghostbusters that casts Jefferson Blvd, the theater, its crew, and the famous Charco Broiler cow as the ghost.

Barak Epstein, one of the Aviation Cinemas guys, told me he was rendering the new trailer up until the time it was shown during Saturday’s Bowie screening. He adds:

The Cow is a mix of stop motion animation via a clay model with some digital enhancements.  The good folks at Charco Broiler were very helpful in facilitating the production. We wanted to involve as much of Jefferson Blvd as possible. (hence the Jefferson Tower shots and and Small Brew Pub)

The screening is Friday Jan 29th with a live and silent art auction benefiting Guardian Pit Bull Rescue. We still need submissions! Anyone can make something!

The Small Brew Pub cameo is deadpan greatness. The incorporation of Jefferson Tower is also well done, as are the smattering of shot quotes from the original Ghostbusters film. It’s pretty much all-round fantastic. Now they have posted it online. Enjoy.
