Forbes recently put outs its annual reckoning of young people doing big things in a variety of fields, from finance to manufacturing to education — 600 names are spread across the “30 Under 30” lists for 2016. North Texas is well-represented across the board, with two Dallas Stars and Jesuit grad (and D Magazine’s best local athlete of 2015) Jordan Spieth appearing in the sports section alone. The Houston Chronicle took a shot at counting, and found that 25 members of this year’s class “across 20 different industries are originally from Texas.”

In particular, artists with North Texas ties show up in force on the “Music” list. There is, of course, the great Leon Bridges. The Grammy-winning a capella group Pentatonix, of Arlington extraction, also appears. Keep scrolling, and you’ll find Nick Jonas, Grand Prairie’s Selena Gomez, and Dallas-raised Demi Lovato.

I didn’t spot any locally familiar names or faces while glancing at the “30 Under 30: Art and Style” or “Entertainment” sections, but my eyes rolled back into my head and haven’t returned after I read the headline “30 Under 30s Define ‘Millenial,'” so let me know if I missed anyone.
