Francisco Moreno: paintingdebt POP-UP shop at the Latino Cultural CenterDec. 12, 12-5 p.m. 2600 Live Oak St. Dallas, TX 75204.

Artist Francisco Moreno has a simple idea for paying off his student loans: sell 500 paintings at $100 a pop. He will be selling his objects at a pop up shop at the Latino Cultural Center, where his exhibition From the Area is up through January 2016.

 

Dan Rizzie: Prints, Collages, Monograph at Barry Whistler GalleryDec. 12, 5-8 p.m. 2909-B Canton St. Dallas, TX 75226.

Dan Rizzie’s prints, collages, and monographs mine liberally from modern and ancient sources, exploring geometric forms, traditions of craft making, iconography, and image making. The artist, who has been working in Dallas since the early 1970s, was the subject of his first monograph published by University of Texas Press earlier this year.

The closing installment of this shape-shifting group exhibition includes Michael Mazurek, Margaret Meehan, Ryder Richards, Andrew Douglas Underwood, and Jesse Morgan Barnett and was curated by Benjamin Lima.

 

Architecture as Interface Artist Talk + Reception at Zhulong GalleryDec. 12, 6-9 p.m. 1302 Dragon St. Dallas, TX 75207.

In her exhibition at Zhulong, Susan Giles presents sculptural objects that reconstruct landmark pieces of architecture from around the world. They are explorations of form that trace the intersection between architecture and sculpture and trade in a thorny brand of historical and cultural appropriation.

Joshua von Ammon and Frank Darko’s live/work art space presents a group show by Maneesh Raj Madahar, Luke Harnden, and Patrick Romeo. The promotional language around the show is a bit inpenetrable, but the artists included are quality.
