Insiders with Carol Zou at Ash Studios Dec. 2, 8 p.m. 3203 Ash Ln. Dallas, TX 75226.

Artist, activist, community leader, and all around art world gadfly Darryl Ratcliff has launched a new speaking series at Ash Studios called “Insiders.” Here’s the catch: all phones, media, and recording devices are not allowed in the event. The idea is to facilitate confidential public conversations with people who are active in the local art scene in some way with the hope of revealing “inside information and knowledge to the audience, and shift who in the city is allowed to have this information.”

This weekend’s latest offering at Ro2 brings together the work of three Korean female artists, Bumin Kim, Yuni Lee, and Jieun Lim. Each work in different media and mediums — painting, drawing, sculpture, and mixed media — but through lines between the artists’ practices can be found in their use of color, pattern, and shape as well as a careful attention to the materiality of their work.
