Rejoice: Spring break is (thankfully) upon us. If you’re one of the many brave souls making the trek to Austin this weekend for this year’s South by Southwest Festival, I wish you godspeed and warm weather. The rest of us will be starting our weekend off right with these Thursday shows:

Ice Balloons, Kyp Malone @ Club Dada: This Brooklyn-based supergroup sports many of indie favorites (TV on the Radio’s Kyp Malone, Midnight Masses’ Giselle Reiber, Rob Bryn of the Wild Yaks–to name a few) and a garage-punk sound straight out of the 60s. When their eight-sound EP dropped past October, it didn’t take long for the band’s debut video to find its place on Noisey, intriguing new and old fans alike with the Malone-fronted “Night Slave.” Now the band is bringing their special brand of sensory overload across the country for the next three weeks, toting video projections and even piña colada-scented smoke. Members Malone and Bryn have been trading opening act duties while on the road; tonight, Malone will support the band with his solo project.

Clint Black @ Majestic Theatre: Those who purchased Black’s 2013’s compilation album When I Say I Do with a little hope in their hearts should be satisfied. Black has returned in 2014 with his winter tour, which is currently making its way through the south and promising “new arrangements and [some] hits we haven’t played in a while.” No doubt long-time fans will appreciate the new material.

Kevin Seconds, Ian MacDougall @ Three Links: With a career spanning three generations of punk music, Kevin Seconds has remained an influential voice in the punk scene, and an important pioneer of hardcore punk music. As the frontman of 1979’s “7 Seconds Band,” Seconds’ provided political and social commentary to crowds in North America, Europe, and Japan, while also maintaining a frenzy of side projects and even his own coffee shop. Ian MacDougall of Riverboat Gamblers and Broken Gold supports.

As always, Colly T will be entertaining the masses as typical of his VIBE residency at The Beauty Bar; DJ Sober will be doing the same at his The Basement residency at the Travis; DJ Rob Viktum will take to The Slip Inn stage for the first night of his weekend residency; DJ Spacechase and his Subsonic Indulgence show will once again play host to a bevy of local DJs and fans alike at Andy’s in Denton.
