Dance Theater of Harlem (Jan 26 at Bass Performance Hall) TicketsIf we learned anything from Black Swan, it’s that ballet is serious business. After a nine-year hiatus, the re-launched Dance Theatre of Harlem is back to remind audiences of ballet’s unparalleled potential for artistic excellence. The New York-based dance company has grown into a multi-cultural institution that embodies bold, innovative forms of creative expression.

YOLO Theater Festival (Through Jan 26 at Margo Jones Theatre) Tickets available at the door. Drake has acting experience, too, ya know. This festival from Audacity Theatre Lab features short plays around the theme “one lives but once in the world,” to paraphrase both our sensitive rapper friend and Johann Wolfgang von Geothe.

The Desert Song in Concert (Jan 23-26 at Lyric Stage) Tickets. The Irving-based Broadway specialist will present four full orchestra concert performances of Sigmund Romberg, Oscar Hammerstien II, Otto Harbach and Frank Mandel’s The Desert Song.

Working The Museum (Jan 24-Feb 23 at Contemporary Theatre of Dallas) Tickets. Music by Lin-Manuel Miranda, the Tony Award-winning creator of In The Heights, as well as  songs by Stephen Schwartz, Craig Carnelia and James Taylor pepper this ensemble piece about working in America.

Oral Fixation (January 27 at the Winspear Opera House) Tickets. You’ll have to wait until Monday for the latest installment of the popular storytelling series. This month’s theme: “Silver Linings”
