Just in time for the 50th anniversary of the day Lee Harvey Oswald assassinated President John F. Kennedy and killed a Dallas police officer, Elaine Liner offers us this fantastic story about an original play written and produced by the Dallas Theater Center called Jack Ruby, All-American Boy.

Ruby, if you’ll recall, was the local nightclub owner who killed Oswald before he could be tried for his crimes. The play was a phenomenal hit, but it’s never been seen or heard of since its sold-out first run in 1974. Liner, who saw the production, asks why.

This is fascinating stuff, rich with Dallas history and Dallas theater history. Recommended.
