Halloween’s right around the corner, and to celebrate The Big Movie is bringing you William Friedkin’s classic horror film, The Exorcist. Adapted from the eponymous 1971 novel by William Peter Blatty, The Exorcist is a top contender as one of the scariest movies of all time. It could be because of the freakishly demonic acting chops of young Linda Blair in her role as Regan MacNeil, a young girl possessed by the devil. Or, it could be Friedkin’s unorthodox directing methods which created genuine reactions from his actors (he reportedly shot off a gun on set once to get a shocked expression from Jason Miller). Or, it could just be the obscene imagery and dialogue. Just a disclaimer, if you haven’t seen this movie yet and want to, you should prepare yourself for some lewd and uncomfortable language.

Regardless, there’s a reason The Exorcist is so memorable and a Halloween favorite: it’s one of those terrifyingly disturbing films that stays with you for days. We’re giving away three pairs of tickets with popcorn to the 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. showtimes at The Magnolia if you can answer our question: Ellen Burstyn, who played the mother of Regan MacNeil, also starred in which two Darren Aronofsky films?
