Ticket Giveaway: Smokey Joe’s Cafe at WaterTower Theatre

Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller wrote stacks on stacks on stacks of hits, from “Fools Fall in Love” (which the Drifters took to #10 in 1957, nine years before Elvis got ahold of it) to “Stand By Me” (a song that John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, Seal, and around four hundred others—no joke—have tackled over the years). All those classic tracks are collected into Smokey Joe’s Cafe, a revue of the hit makers behind the hit singers.

There’s no pretense of plot to string the tunes together—and that’s fine with us: the songs are more than capable of standing on their own. And if that sounds good to you, too, we have two pairs of tickets to give away to the WaterTower Theatre Centre production that starts next week. It’s for a performance on July 25, 26, or 27 (your choice) at the Addison Conference Centre.

Just fill out the Wufoo form here, tell me who sang “Stand By Me” the best, and I’ll pack a winner at random on Wednesday, July 18.
