So as the originally scheduled performances of 35 Denton drew to a close at Rubber Gloves last night, some of the more cynically informed members of the press, music community, and festival itself sat around discussing possible opening acts for Wednesday’s rescheduled performance by the Jesus and Mary Chain, which will now take place at the North Texas State Fairgrounds.

“Maybe it’s the Toadies,” said one particular smart aleck who shall remain unnamed.

After shooting through a list of would-be spotlight warmers, there was no clear answer. But now it appears, we have it, the known Garage psych live sensation, Ty Segall. Release in full:

Today, 35 Denton is pleased to announce San Francisco’s prolific psychpop thunder-king Ty Segall will join Jesus and Mary Chain as a special guest at Wednesday night’s concert in Denton at the North Texas State Fairgrounds.

“Not only is Ty Segall a dreamy babe, but his band is a perfect match for Jesus and Mary Chain,” says Kyle La Valley, creative director. “He’s an exciting, dynamic performer with a wholly unique take on modern pop. This bill is the perfect way to finish off 35 Denton 2012.”

Wednesday night’s free show begins at 7 p.m. Festival attendees with wristbands will have preferred access to a secured area at the front of the stage and will receive priority entry to the venue.

An additional 750 wristbands are on sale now for $35 as a bundle: if you purchase a blind presale four-day pass to 35 Denton 2013, you will also receive a wristband for Wednesday’s show. Wristbands may be purchased at prekindle.com/next35
