A. Kate Sheerin replaced Charissa Terranova as the director of CentralTrak, Dallas’ only artists’ residency with artists in residence in January 2010. Turn out 18 months back in Dallas was enough for Sheerin, who’s decamping for Austin. Taking her place will be Heyd Fontenot, a current Centraltrak artist who recently curated Gun & Knife Show at the Exposition Park space. Here’s the release:

Dear CentralTrak Supporter:

We at CentralTrak, The University of Texas at Dallas Artists Residency, would like to thank you for your continued interest in and support of CentralTrak.  Since opening our doors just over three years ago in Deep Ellum, we have seen incredible artists from Mexico, Australia, Germany, Argentina, and many other countries participate in our residency and gallery programming.  Our visiting artists, graduate residents, and indeed the entire artistic and academic community of UT Dallas is enriched by the exchange that this interaction at CentralTrak cultivates.  Bringing vital and challenging artists, their work, and critical dialogue to our North Texas audiences is essential to CentralTrak’s mission, and we are happy to play such a unique role in the DFW cultural scene.

At this time we would like to announce the departure of our current Director, A. Kate Sheerin, who is leaving Dallas for Austin as her life continues to unfold.  While CentralTrak is saddened by the loss of Kate, we will continue to work with her as an Advisory Council member as CentralTrak continues to expand its regional profile and significance.

Concurrently, we are pleased to announce the appointment of our new Director, Heyd Fontenot, who is an artist and current CentralTrak resident.  Heyd recently joined CentralTrak and has already received much critical attention for the exhibition he co-curated at CentralTrak, Gun & Knife Show. We expect exciting developments under Heyd’s directorship, and we look forward to sharing these with you in the coming months.

Thank you again for your time and support.  Please send any inquiries to [email protected].

With our kindest regards,

The CentralTrak and UT Dallas A&H Team
