Get ready, in less than an hour you can begin to reserve your free tickets to theater performances at 20 local theater and performing arts organizations thanks to “Free Night of Theater,” a nationwide program that being put on locally by the City of Dallas Office of Culture Affairs. The concept is simple: nearly 2,000 tickets to performances have been set aside. To get your hands on them for free, all you need to do is go here, find a show, and submit your request. The City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs in conjunction with Theatre Communications Group presentsFREE NIGHT OF THEATER 2010 October 1 – October 31 The Office of Cultural Affairs is pleased to partner with 20 local theatre and performing arts organizations on the third annual Free Night of Theater. From October 1 – October 31 new Dallas theatergoers have the opportunity to reserve nearly 2,000 free tickets to participating theatres. Dallas is one of 120 communities across the country participating in the event, which campaigns to attract new audiences to live theatrical performances. Tickets will be released in a staggered format, with each weekend’s ticket allotment being released the Monday prior, starting September 27 at noon. Tickets can only be reserved online at www.freenightoftheater.net, require a valid and active email address, and are handled on a first come, first serve basis. Reservations are limited to one per household only and patrons are strongly encouraged to visit a theater that they have never attended before. Each participating theatre will set a reservation ticket limit for their productions (usually 2). Once reservations have been made through the website, patrons will be able to pick up their tickets at the will-call window of the individual theater’s box office on the night of the show.
