If your response to that headline was “Paulo who?” then you’ve got a lot of catching up to do. Szot is a Polish Brazilian vocal heartthrob (a certified “Barihunk”) who has been tearing up opera and Broadway stages with his “rich, virile” baritone. In 2008, he won a Tony for best actor in a musical for his performance in South Pacific, and this fall, Szot stars in the title role of the Dallas Opera’s Don Giovanni. For a sneak peek, catch Szot on KERA tomorrow night, a performance that will surely whet your appetite for Willard Spiegelman’s intimate profile of the man that will appear in the October issue of the print product. Also below and after the jump, more Szot samples. Enjoy.
